This is just a quick YouTube video shot from the middle of my road on the Sunday after the Blizzard. Sorry for the sniffling, I had just finished up the shoveling and it was a bit cold.

I like the ATVs w/ plow attachments idea that Leiatyndall had. Hard to get a lot of use out of one in long island tho. Even a $1000 for one is hard to justify the cost if that is all you are using it for.

Yeah, I got rid of my Quad years ago, it was just getting to hard to find a spot to ride. Seems like everything I like to do is being outlawed around here!

Yup – no fun on Long Island…

Quad/Dirtbike – Only on private track areas (few and far between) that you pay to use
Hiking – Sure, but you have to pay to get into most areas and God forbid you want to take your dog!
Camping – Sure, if you like paying to camp at commercial campgrounds. Don’t even think of hiking into the woods and sleeping there overnight
4-wheeling – Barely any…and major restriction where you can (not to mention permitting)
Surfing – Only on certain beaches…and you have to pay to get onto those (see a theme here?)

Granted, all of the above is said under the assumption that you’re always conscious of the laws our fine, fine legislators make 😉

The one that drives me nuts is the ban on drinking at State parks. Tase and Pepper Spray me if I’m being a drunk putz, instead we play the stupid game of drinking out of red plastic cups. Solo must have lobbied for that one!

Hi Mike, I thought you did a great job with the video! I read your lessons learned post too. I’m sorry to hear you’ve got aches and pains. It’s just never the same after you turn 40. (or so I hear….of course I’m only 39….and I stopped having birthdays a few years ago….:P) Hope you guys are staying warm and everything is thawing out for you guys this week!

Thanks Jennifer! We are in the middle of the Big Melt today. Now it is a muddy wasteland!
