How radishes helped me get my groove back…

With a blog named “How radishes helped me get my groove back…” you’re probably wondering just what the heck I’m talking about. It has been a bit of a rough patch around “ye olde neo-homestead” lately. After some issues at work, 4 weeks of forced 12 hour days, a wood pile that has taken on a life of it’s own, and a thumb that has been definitely un-green,  I was blessed with a bumper crop of radishes.  Just watching them start to poke through the soil was enough to get me going during my run of 84 hour weeks. Today I finally pulled them from the soil. Now I didn’t bat 1.ooo but I did fill my colander with enough for a try at braised radishes and plenty for salads.

So even though radishes aren’t exactly the most exciting vegetable (asparagus, hands down!) they did help to lift me out of my little post strike, Hurricane Irene clean-up, Wood-zilla, and why did everything have to grow misshapen or die funk. So yes, radishes did help me get my groove back and get back up onto the blogging pony!

After making radish flowers the next blog will be about chainsaws, axes, or knives 🙂
