We came home to a package on the steps from the Big Brown Truck of Happiness and we’ve got New Spydercos in the house!
First up is a Spyderco Delica4 Lightweight FRN Flat Ground PlainEdge Knife (Purple). On Sunday, while working on our garden, my wife kept asking to borrow my knife. For me this is a borderline dirty fantasy (almost on par with her using the wood stove, I know I’ve got issues) but, it was also a good opening to get her, a pocket knife of her own. I settled on the Delica 4 FFG since it’s big brother the Endura 4 FFG is at the top of my “all time favorite pocket knives list”. The Delica 4 FFG has all the great features of the Endura 4 FFG just in a smaller package. I got it in Purple, not my first choice but I knew my wife would like it! She might think it is cute but the Delica 4 FFG is cutting machine, with a premium steel (VG-10), all wrapped up in Purple FRN.
Next up in the box was a Spyderco Resilience Black G-10 PlainEdge Knife this one was for me! It is from Spydercos value line up. It is made in China and uses Chinese steel (8Cr13MoV). The fit and finish seems up to par for a Spyderco and the knife came out of the box shaving sharp. For the price point it seems like a great deal but only some pocket time will tell. The G-10 handle material is a nice touch and a basic liner lock helps keep the cost down on this blade. It is BIG!!! It is just short of a folding sword but seems pretty light in the pocket thus far (nice use of thus, right?).
I’ll be fooling around with both of these knives for a few weeks and then each will get it’s own time on the sun, but I’m impressed with both of them thus far (I couldn’t resist).
